POLICE VOW TO ARREST ATTACKERS OF ABIA COMMISSIONER

Abia State Police Command has confirmed an attack on the on the convoy of the state Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Industry, Mr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, at SAMEC, located near Faulks Road in Aba.

The Commissioner was said to be on a familiarization tour to markets in the Aba metropolis on Monday when a group of hoodlums launched an attack on his convoy at about Four O’clock in the evening.

Conforming the development in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in Abia, Mrs. Maureen Chinaka, said the convoy was heading for Ekoha Shopping Plaza when the armed assailants opened fire, resulting in the death of two police officers just as the hoodlums set ablaze a vehicle belonging to the Ministry.

According to the Command’s the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has reassured the public that all efforts would be made to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
