POLICE VOW TO APPREHEND KILLERS OF JTF OPERATIVES IN IMO

The Police command in Imo State has disclosed that the Joint Security Taskforce (JTF) ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Ehime Mbano were on their way to diligently respond to a decoy distress call when the incident occurred.

This was contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Henry Okoye.

The JTF team comprising officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the police and Air Force were lured to an ambush and burnt to death alongside their two Hilux patrol vehicles.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Mohammed Barde, said the command had deployed a Special Tactical Team and operational assets to apprehend the hoodlums responsible for the dastardly act.

The Commissioner of Police in the statement, extended his heartfelt condolence to the families and relatives of the deceased officers and prayed the Almighty God to grant them the fortitude to bear the sudden and irreplaceable loss.

Mr. Barde, assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of the dastardly act were made to face the full wrath of the law.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment in collaboration with other sister security agencies to provide adequate security in Imo State.
