POLICE PLEDGE TO SECURE RELEASE OF ENUGU TRADITIONAL RULER FROM HIS ABDUCTORS

The Police Command in Enugu State has vowed to ensure that the kidnapped traditional ruler of Obum Agbogwugwu in Awgu Local Government Area of the state, Igwe Sunday Orji regains his freedom.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaizu, who confirmed the abduction of the royal father in a telephone chat, said security agents were following it.

Igwe Orji was kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen at Umuogbae/Ihe axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Express way Sunday evening.

The incident was said to have happened when the traditional ruler was returning to his home town where he attended a thanksgiving service organise by a former state legislator in the area.

His kidnap came just three days after a Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu and Parish Priest of St. James The Great, Ugbawka, the Reverend Father Paul Offu, was shot dead by suspected herdsmen.
