POLICE PARADE 60 CRIMINAL SUSPECTS IN EBONYI

Police in Ebonyi State have arrested sixty suspects for allegedly committing various crimes, including armed robbery, murder, Illegal possession of arms and attacks on police facilities and personnel.

Parading the suspects at Police Headquarters Abakaliki, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Garba, explained that thirty-nine of the suspects were arrested following intelligence report that gunmen suspected to be behind attacks on police stations and personnel were meeting in Agubia Ikwo to plan further attacks.

He noted that others were picked up at their hideouts at Agbaja, Izzi community in Abakaliki Local Government Area while assorted arms, ammunition as well as charms were recovered from the premises.

Mr. Garba said the Command also arrested a notorious hoodlum whose name was given as Nwite Okechukwu while one AK-47 rifle, an assault Rifle, a locally made pistol and one machete were said to have been recovered from his hideout at Mile 50 Abakaliki.

Also arrested was one Daniel Elom, who claimed to be the spy master of the gunmen that have been attacking police.

The Commissioner of Police said the suspects would be charged in line with their offences.
