
POLICE NAB TWO SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN ANAMBRA, RESCUE VICTIM

Police operatives in Anambra State have rescued a kidnap victim and arrested two suspects.
In a statement by Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to Area Command Headquarters, Onitsha, while on township patrol received a call of a kidnap around Borromeo Roundabout and immediately responded to the distress call.
The statement said the operatives caught up with a shuttle bus in which the kidnapped victim was held.
It said the operatives professionally engaged the kidnappers in a shootout without harming the hostage, who was rescued unhurt.
The statement explained that the two suspects were arrested at the scene while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
According to the statement, the police team recovered one Barreta pistol, nine rounds of 9MM live ammunition and a shuttle bus without number plates, which the suspects used for the kidnap operation.
The statement said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, while commending the operatives for the remarkable feat, charged them to intensify efforts aimed at apprehending the fleeing gang members.
It added that the Police Commissioner called on hospitals in the area to report anyone presenting gunshot injuries while treatment was ongoing .
