POLICE KILL SUSPECTED HOODLUM TERRORIZING ISU COMMUNITY IN EBONYI

Police have shot dead a suspected hoodlum terrorizing Isu Community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the state, Mrs. Loveth Odah, explained that the breakthrough followed an intelligence report on movement of arms and ammunition by hoodlums to the area.
It noted that one Eluu Ekpehu, who was arrested, led the police operatives to the house of the leader of he hoodlums popularly known as blood.
The statement indicated that on sighting the police, the suspect opened fire on the operatives but was eventually arrested with gunshot injuries while his gang members fled the scene.
Items allegedly recovered from the suspect, who later died in the hospital, included one double barrel English gun with eleven cartridges, one locally made single gun and a riot police smoke gun suspected to have been stolen from Ohaozara Police Divisional Headquarters when it was attacked early this month (May).
Other items were three police bartons, one hand grenade, a canister of teargas and two police belts as well as two police radio communication handsets with chargers suspected to have been stolen from Onicha Divisional Police Headquarters when it was attacked and set ablaze in February.
