POLICE GUN DOWN DRIVER CARRYING ARMED MEN IN ANAMBRA

Police in Anambra State say they have gunned down a driver conveying armed men in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement,
the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the operatives gunned down the hoodlums at about 4:45pm on Sunday and recovered one Honda Odyssey salon car with registration number WER 221 ZS-IMO as well as charms.

The statement explained that the operatives at a nipping point along Onitsha/Owerri road, Uli repelled an attack by the gunmen who were plying one-way and started shooting sporadically before approaching the personnel.

It said the operatives swiftly engaged the armed men and demobilised their operational vehicle, before some of them escaped through the bush.

The statement, which said the driver was neutralized, pointed out that no life was lost on the part of the police.

The statement ended by maintaining that the operation was still ongoing in the area to smoke out the bad boys.
