Police in Ebonyi State have bursted a child trafficking syndicate that abducted and sold a four year old male child for three hundred and fifty thousand Naira.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, Mrs. Loveth Odah, explained that the child, whose name was given as Makuoochukwu, was stolen by one Uchechukwu Ebenyi at a local market in Ezilo, Ishielu Local Government Area.
According to the PPRO, the child was first sold to one Chidiebere Ogbu who was a native of Amoukpa Okeugwu Ezilo but resides in Anambra State for Five thousand Naira.
She stated that detectives from the command later trailed the stolen child to Anambra State where the child was sold to a third party.
He was later traced to one Chibuzor Frank Azubuike, who took the Police to one Ezenwa Scholarstica, who bought the child for three hundred and fifty thousand Naira.
The Police spokesperson noted that four suspects arrested in connection with the crime had been arraigned.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the child had been reunited with members of his family.
