POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTS FOR LOOTING IN WAR-TORN EBONYI COMMUNITIES

Police in Ebonyi State have arrested eleven suspects for sundry offences, including armed robbery, looting and illegal possession of fire arms.

A statement by the police spokesperson in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Loveth Odah, noted that six suspects were arrested by Anti-Kidnapping operative after looting people’s property at war ravaged Effium and Ezza Effium communities.

The statement indicated that the suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were intercepted at Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.

The statement also pointed out the command arrested three other suspects, who had been in the command’s wanted list from Okposi Umuoghara in Ezza North Local Government Area.

It explained that two other suspects were arrested for attempted robbery at Jukwueze Junction Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area.

Items allegedly recovered from the suspects included electronic appliances, Generator, three locally made pistols and live cartridges.

The statement added that the suspects confessed to the crimes and had been arraigned in court.
