POLICE ARREST KIDNAP & ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN ABIA

The Police Command in Abia State has arrested three suspected kidnappers said to have been terrorising residents of Aba and its environs. Also arrested by the Police are two suspected armed robbers, Chibuike Nwosu and Hilary Ubani, as well as two women for their alleged involvement in keeping arms for criminals.

Parading the suspects in Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs. Janet Agbede, said the suspects were arrested at various locations by the Intelligence Response Team deployed to the state. She gave the names of the suspected kidnappers as Monday Nnadozie from Obingwa, Godwin Udechukwu and Chinedu Agwu from Ohafia. Mrs. Agbede warned criminals to stay away from the state, noting that police and other security agencies were ever ready to arrest and deal decisively with anyone caught in criminal act.

In an interview, one of suspects, Chinedu Agwu, who claimed to be a graduate of Abia State University, confessed to have been a kidnapper, stating that it was a friend that lured him into the act. Items allegedly recovered from the suspects included two single barrel guns, one locally made pistol, three live cartridges, thirteen live cartridges, One Samsung Galaxy phone and Eleven Sim cards of different networks.
