POLICE ARREST 95 SUSPECTED CULTISTS

The police command in Anambra State says it has arrested ninety five suspected cultists.

The Command made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Awka and signed by its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Haruna Muhammed. 

The PPRO said the Special Anti Cult Unit of the command carried out raids on criminal hideouts in various communities across the state where several arrests were made.

The statement indicated that eighteen of the arrested suspected cultists were apprehended in Okija-Ihiala axis, six from Ekwulobia area, fifteen from Awkuzu axis, while five suspected cultists were also arrested at Nkpor Uno.

Also, eleven persons were apprehended during the raid at Ifite Awka area, eleven suspected cultists were arrested, twenty suspects were arrested within Oko and Nanka areas while eighteen others were apprehended at Enugwu Ukwu-Nimo and Nise axis of Anambra State.

The statement further explains it that thirty two of the suspects were screened out, twenty eight arraigned in court, ten placed under police supervision for being under aged while twenty five others were under investigation.

The statement further showed that the Police Command arrested a “One Chance” robbery syndicate who allegedly specialised in robbing unsuspecting commuters inside tricycle.

The arrested suspects included one Friday Okpe said to have come from Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, residing at number 3 Obi Christian Street, Nkpor; Peter Ochai who also said to hail from Okpoku Local Government Area of Benue State and resided in Ogidi and; Chukwuebuka Okafor from Uzoegbu Street Nkpor.

They were apprehended after the sim card of one Mercy Anekwe, who they robbed in a tricycle on Limca Road, Nkpor was found with them.

The PPRO noted that the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigation was concluded.
