POLICE ARREST 40 YEAR OLD MAN FOR DEFILING 11 YEAR OLD GIRL IN EBONYI

Police in Ebonyi State have arrested a forty year old man whose name was given as Kingsley for allegedly defiling an eleven year old girl in Ekoli Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state. The minor was rushed to the hospital for medical attention as a result of complications arising from the defilement.

Briefing journalists in Abakaliki, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mrs. Loveth Oda, explained that the parents of the girl reported that she was hawking moi-moi when the suspected rapist pretended to be buying her delicacy and allegedly dragged her into his room where he defiled her. It was gathered that the victim was rushed to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki as she was badly injured by the suspected rapist.

The Chairperson of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Grace Chima, who visited the victim at the hospital, described her condition as pathetic, noting that hers was the fifteenth case recorded by FIDA since COVID-19 lockdown.
