The Police Command in Abia State says it has arrested four men suspected to be in connection with the recent attack on five Police officers at Okagwe Junction in Ohafia Local Government Area. Addressing journalists at the Police headquarters in Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Janet Agbede, said the five Police men attached to 28 and 55 Squadron were deployed to a nipping point at Ohafia when the incident occurred.

According to the Police Commissioner, the armed men numbering about thirty with guns, matchetes and other dangerous weapons attacked the officers and shot dead one of them while others sustained various degrees of injuries. She stated that the Police men retaliated but where over powered by the hoodlums, who made away with their three AK47 rifles.

Mrs. Agbede noted that some of the armed men sustained bullet wounds during the incident and appealed to medical practitioners, hospitals, trado-medical practitioners and the public to report any person found with bullet wound to the nearest Police station.

She stated that investigation into the incident had commenced and re-assured residents of the state of adequate security of their lives and property by the Police.
