PLANS TO DECONGEST PRISONS IN ABIA UNDERWAY

The Controller Nigerian Prisons Service Abia State, Alhaji Kunle Sanusi, says the Command will continue to maintain zero tolerance to corruption.

Alhaji Sanusi stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia. He noted that any officer caught in any form of corrupt act would be dealt according to Prisons rules and regulations.

Alhaji Sanusi explained that plans were on to decongest the Prisons as the State Chief Judge had set up a Committee that would expedite action on trials of inmates. On efforts being made to safeguard the Prison against any act of riot or jail break, Alhaji Sanusi pointed out that the Command was collaborating with other sister security agencies towards providing adequate security of Prisons in the state.

The Controller of Prisons urged officers and men of his Command to be alive to their responsibilities while discharging their duties.
