PDP SOUTHEAST HOLDS CONGRESS, ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southeast says it is undergoing metamorphosis to enable it reposition the party and get ready for greater challenges in the future.

The Southeast Zonal Chairman of the party, Mr. Ali Odefa stated this during the party’s zonal congress held at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu.

The PDP Zonal Congress also elected 14 other Zonal Executive Committee Members through an election conducted by the Zonal Congress Electoral Panel led by Dr. Ibrahim Umar.

Other elected Zonal Working Committee Members who were sworn in alongside the Zonal Chairman, Mr. Ali Odefa; included Chief James Ugwu, Secretary; Mr. Mike Ahumibe, Organising Secretary; and Mr. Emeka Okeke, Treasurer.

Five others were elected Zonal Ex-Officio. They included Chief Damian Ozurumba and Chief Romanus Edeh, while Mr. Okey Muo-Aro, Mr. Chinemerem Madu and Princess Edith Okoro were among the elected National Ex-Officio.

Endorsing the result of the election, the Enugu State Resident Electoral Committioner, Dr. Emeka Ononamadu, said the process was orderly and credible.

The Leader of the Party in the Southeast Zone and Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, led about 780 delegates to the congress.

Other PDP southeast leaders who authenticated the result of the exercise included the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mr. Udo Oko Chukwu; former PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; Senator Sam Egwu representing Ebonyi North; Senator Uche Ekwunife representing Anambra Central, and Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. Edward Ubosi.

They described the process as free, fair and credible.

In a remark, the Zonal Chairman, Mr. Ali Odefa, who spoke on behalf of other elected officials pledged to put the interest of the party first.

He reassured stakeholders of the party in the zone of his leadership’s committment to within the 4 years tenure of office reclaime every state that was taken from PDP in the zone starting from Anambra November 2021 Gubernatorial election.
