PDP EBONYI LEADERSHIP TUSSLE: NWEBONYI AND UDEOGU TO KNOW FATE WEDNESDAY

An Ebonyi State High court sitting in Abakaliki has reserved ruling until Wednesday January 20, 2021 in a suit filed by Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi challenging the appointment of Chief Fred Udeogu led Caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The PDP National Leadership had shortly after the defection of Governor David Umahi to the All Progressives Congress, dissolved the State Executive Committee led by Chief Nwaebonyi and appointed Chief Udeogu led Caretaker Committee.
Justice Vincent Nwanchor, who presided over the sitting, had slated the ruling for Monday 18/1/2021 but had to defer it following an oral submission by Counsel to the defendant, Chief Mudi Erenede, that his client had filed an appeal on the jurisdiction of the court.
However, Counsel to Chief Nwaebonyi and others, Chief Roy Nwaeze faulted the submission, noting that a court could only accept a stay of ruling on a matter before it if there was an error in the process of court proceedings.
However, temper flared during the argument between the two counsels as both accused each other of operating outside the dictates of law.
Radio Nigeria observed that there was heavy presence of policemen both withing and outside the court during the sitting.
