OVER 60 MOBILE POLICE MEN DEPLOYED TO EZEAGU AND UZO UWANI TO ENSURE ADEQUATE SECURITY

Ezeagu Local Government Area has been in the news over series of heinous crimes in recent times.

Few weeks ago, a Rev. Father was kidnapped and later found dead while the Secretary of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area was also reported to have been shot dead around Olo Community also located in the council area.

There were also issues of security challenges arising from herders while an expatriate was also reported to have been kidnapped.

Also, there were reports of high profile armed robbery along Umumba area.

To boost the fight against banditry in the area, the Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Chief Fred Ezinwa donated two operational security patrol vehicles to the Police Command in the State.

Chief Ezinwa said the council could not fold its arms and watch what he termed continuous invasion of the communities by the armed men.

He said that available record showed that all the three divisional areas lack manpower and equipment to combat crime.

The Chairman urged the police to use the vehicle to check the trends in line with the State Governor’s security master plan.

Taking delivery of the vehicles, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Sulieman Balarebe commended the council for the bold step taken.

He promised that all the issues raised would be addressed urgently and described the Chairman as a security friendly person.

Mr Balarebe said the Command had deployed over sixty mobile police men to Ezeagu and Uzo-Uwani areas to assist other security organizations in combating the increasing cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in the areas.

Earlier the Commissioner of Police inspected a guard of honour by the Aguobe Owa division of the force and later proceeded to inspect the Umumba division which has been facing challenges.

The event was attended by the traditional rulers in the areas, town union presidents General and others.
