OVER ₦7b TO BE SPENT BY EBONYI STATE GOVT ON SCHOOL RENOVATION

Ebonyi State Government says it will spend over Seven billion Naira for the renovation of some primary and secondary schools in the area in the next ten months.

Governor David Umahi stated this during the inauguration of the State Chairman and members of Universal Basic Education Board at Government House Abakaliki.

He noted that the present administration would introduce e-learning while Government Secondary School Afikpo, Abakaliki High School Presco and Ezza High School Onueke would be classified as Special Schools.

Governor Umahi pointed out that there would be re-auditing of State workers while five hundred million Naira had been set aside for the settlement of gratuities of workers who retired since he assumed office.

This he said was to enable the State to employ more teachers.

The Chairman of UBEB in the State, Chief Hyacinth Ikpoannounced the readiness of the State Governmentand the Board to ensure that the number of out of school children in the state was reduced.

Also sworn in at the event was a former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr Ken Uhuo as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
