OVER ₦1B OKAYED FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN ENUGU STATE

The Enugu State Government has approved over one billion naira for infrastructure development in the State.

The approval was part of resolution of the Executive Council meeting held at Government House, Enugu.

While briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting, the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Greg Nnaji said that fund was approved for the renovation of the Enugu State Library, construction of rural roads and Bailey bridge.

According to Mr. Nnaji, over thirty-four million naira was approved for the renovation of the library which over decades had deteriorated.

The Commissioner mentioned the rehabilitation and construction of feeder roads in Igbo Etiti Local Government to include Ninth Mile-Makurdi Express road, Community Secondary School road Ozalla, Akabuite Ohebe Dim-Aku road-Saint Mary’s Ezi Ukehe-Afia four-Umurusi road at the cost of over two hundred and eighty million naira.

Others approved for construction were Ugbawka-Nara-Nkerefi road Phase two, Nkanu East Local Government Area, Amechi Uwani road, Awkunanaw Enugu South Local Government area, extension of the construction of Ogurute-Umuogbo-Umuokpu-Ette road, Phase two and installation of Bailey bridge across Nama River linking Amechi Uno Obeagu communities.

Also the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Ogbuagu Anikwe said that Enugu State had been honoured with the best State in Information and Communication Technology, ICT development n the country by the National Council on Communication and Technology.
