OVER ₦1B APPROVED FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN ENUGU STATE

The Enugu State Government has approved over one billion naira for infrastructure development and provision of educational instruction materials in the State.

This was made known when the Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Greg Nnaji, that of Education, Professor Uche Eze, Information, Mr. OgbuaguAnikwe and Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sam OgbuNwobodo briefed journalists at Government House Enugu on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

Mr. Greg Nnajistated that over one point four billion naira was approved for the construction and reconstruction of some roads in Asata, Maryland, Ama Breweries junction and fencing of two parcels of land at Nsukka Satellite town.

According to the Commissioner for Education, Professor Eze, the Council approved over thirty-seven million naira for the procurement of relevant instructional materials for schools in the State.

The items are desktop computers, laptops, white boards among others.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. OgbuaguAnikwe announced that the newly appointed Commissioner, Mr. Peter Okonkwo has been assigned to the Ministry of Housing.

Mr. Anikwe also said that the executive council directed Local Government Council Chairmen in the State to always hold monthly security meeting with stakeholders in their areas, especially the traditional rulers.
MrAnikwe said that the council also approved the installation of solar panel lights in and around the over forty police stations in the State to ensure that they were well illuminated.
