OTTI SIGNS AMENDED ABIA SECURITY TRUST FUND LAW

The newly amended Abia State Security Trust Fund has been signed into law by Governor Alex Otti.

Assenting to the bill recently passed by the Abia State House of Assembly, Governor Otti explained that the members of the trust fund had been empowered to swing into action.

The Governor said that most of the security funding in the State were from the State Government.

He expressed the hope that with the establishment of the Abia State Security Trust Fund, the state would have more institutionalized ways of funding.

He called on philanthropists in the state to continue supporting all the security activities to sustain relative peace in the State.

The Governor stressed that the present administration would to prioritize security in the state.

He thanked the State House of Assembly for amending the law and appreciated the Abia State Security Trust Fund Board of Trustee members for their contributions.

Presenting the bill for signing on behalf of the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Augustine Meregini, explained that the essence of the “Abia State Security Trust Fund Law No 5 of 2024 is to create a trust fund capable of raising funds for the acquisition of necessary security equipment for smooth operation in the State.”

Earlier, the Board of Trustee Chairman, Abia State Security Trust Fund, Mr. Obiamaraije Stanley, thanked the Governor for assenting to the bill and gave him assurance of putting in their best while serving in the trust fund.
