
OTTI INAUGURATES CIVIL SERVICE REFORM COMMITTEE

Governor Alex Otti of state has inagurated a Civil Service Reform Committee in the state.
In a message at the inauguration at the Government at House Umuahia, Governor Otti charged the committee to work with the aim of achieving the vision of the present administration.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth, urged the committee to work with the Office of the Head of Service to get useful information to make the task easier.
While describing the civil service as critical machinery the government needed to execute its policies and objectives, Governor Otti charged the committee members to help actualise his dreams of achieving efficient civil service in the state.
He gave them the assurance that necessary information would be provided by the Office of the Head of Service and urged to them to discharge their duties excellently.
The Governor stressed that the committee was not set up to witchhunt anyone but to create a better service that would be for the benefit of all.
Responding on behalf of other members, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Chibueze Ukaegbu, and the Acting Head of Service, Ms. Joy Maduka, thanked the Governor for choosing them to serve.
They promised to deliver ahead of time to ensure that the aim of setting up the committee was achieved.
The Terms of Reference given to the committee include: to review the current civil service structure with a view to improving the efficiency of the civil service; review the process of appointment; promotion and dismissal and to make appropriate recommendations; to review the Command Promotions done from 2007 to date, amongst others.
