ODUNWA EMERGES SPEAKER EBONYI ASSEMBLY

The member representing Ikwo South State Constituency, Mr. Moses Odunwa, has emerged the Speaker of Ebonyi State 7th Assembly.

He was unanimously elected by 23 members of the House following his nomination by the member representing Edda West, Mr. Nkemka Okoronuma and seconded by Mr. Godwin Abiri representing Izzi West State Constituency.

The member representing Ohaukwu South State Constituency, Mr. Chinedu Onah, also emerged the Deputy Speaker of the House after being nominated by Mr. Friday Ogbuewu, representing Ezza South and seconded by Mr. Celestine Ogbu, representing Onicha East state Constituency.

The Speaker and Deputy Speaker were immediately sworn in by the Clerk of the House, Mrs. Patricia Anasi.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru, had earlier proclaimed the inuaugration of the State Assembly inline with section 105 sub section 3 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Of the 24 members of the House, 19 were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), 3 from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 2 from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and 1 from the Labour Party (LP).
