OBSERVE ALL COVID-19 SAFTEY PROTOCOL IN ORIENTATION CAMP: GOV IKPEZU TELLS CORPS MEMBERS

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has commended the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its concerted efforts in making the scheme more attractive to Nigerian youths.

Governor Ikpeazu made commendation in a message to the swearing-in of the 2020 Batch B Stream 1A corps members deployed to Abia State at the permanent orientation camp Umunna in Bende Local Government Area.

The Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu, who noted that the orientation course was aimed at adequately equipping corps members for the task of nation building and challenges that lay ahead of them.

Chief Ikwuagwu enjoined the corps members to observe all the COVID-19 safety protocol already put in place by the management.

When it was time to speak in his capacity as the Commissioner for Youth Development, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu was represented by the Permanent Secretary in his Ministry, Elder Friday Ikpoha, who urged corps members to put in their best during their service year as the administration of Governor Ikpeazu was committed towards rewarding and recognising corps members that contributed immensely to the development of the state.

In a remark, the State Coordinator NYSC, Mrs. Bona fasakin, said the management of NYSC had put in place several measures to ensure that the orientation camps Nationwide would be COVID-19 free.

She listed provision of over 20 infra-red thermometers, decontamination of the camp, two meter bed spacing in hostels, provision of isolation center, provision of COVID-19 sample collection booth and installation of hand washing bay at strategic locations as some of the measures.

Six hundred and eighty-nine corps members are participating in the three weeks orientation program.
