OBIANO CAUTIONS SECURITY AGENTS OVER POROUS INTER STATE BORDER

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has expressed dismay over the level of violation of inter state movement restrictions by some people.

Governor Obiano made his feelings known when he paid unscheduled visits to the State boundaries. Among the boundaries inspected were the Bridge Head Onitsha with Delta State and the Amansea border with Enugu State.

Governor Obiano while frowning at the poor level of compliance, charged security agencies on duty to enforce total restriction.

The Governor reminded security agents that the total lockdown on inter state boundaries was for twenty-four hours, stressing that only vehicles carrying essential items should be allowed into the state after thorough check. At the Amansea bridge, towards the border with Enugu State, Governor Obiano noted with sadness that few police officers were manning the area.

He reminded security agents that pedestrians (people on foot) were equally restricted from crossing over. An operational officer of the Nigeria police Anambra State command, Mr. Williams Odumo reassured the Governor that they would carry out their duties with utmost sincerity.

The police, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Army and other sister security agencies were seen guarding the border.
