NUJ/NAWOJ DEMAND RELEASE OF NTA MANAGER NEWS KIDNAPPED IN ABA

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ) South East zone has called for the immediate release of their member and Manager News Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Aba, Mrs. Chinyere Okoye, who was kidnapped by unknown persons.

The Acting Vice President of the group in the zone, Comrade Ngozi Mbah, who made the call in Enugu, appealed for prayers to turn the hearts of the abductors.

She called on security agencies to up their game and ensure her immediate rescue and reunite her with her young and grieving family.

NAWOJ also raised alarm over the increasing cases of kidnapping of journalists in Abia State, as a Radio Nigeria Pacesetter Fm Umuahia presenter, Chinenye Iwuoha, was kidnapped recently.

“The association has decried the recent spate of kidnapping of journalists and wishes the state government to improve on Security operations to ensure the safety of Journalists rendering selfless services in the state.

“We pray that such incidence would no longer be reported again in the zone and Nigeria at large,” the statement concluded.

Similarly, the leadership of the Nigeria of Journalists administered by Comrade Chris Isiguzo has appealed to the Abia State Government and security forces in the state to ensure immediate release of Mrs. Chinyere Okoye.
