NSCDC SOLICITS SUPPORT OF ENUGU STATE TRADITIONAL RULERS FOR PEACEFUL STATE

The new Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, Mr. Afrika Valentine Ezenyimuru, says the Command is committed to working assiduously with relevant stakeholders in the State for peace.

Mr. Ezenyimuru, who was on an advocacy visit to some traditional rulers in the State, said his primary goal in Enugu State, as directed by the Commandant General, Mr. Abdullahi Gana Mohammadu, was to consolidate on the current level of peace in the state.

The new NSCDC State Commander, emphasized that traditional rulers needed to be carried along in the continuous search for peace.

Mr. Ezenyimuru begged traditional rulers in the State to appeal to their subjects, particularly youths, to assuage rising tension in the country arising from the recent well intended #EndSARS protest that was hijacked by miscreants, which resulted in loss of lives and vandalism of critical infrastructure in the State.

Mr. Ezenyimuru called on the people to obey constituted authorities and harness the opportunity extended to them by the Federal Government to express their grievances.

While assuring that the Command was determined to protect lives and property of the citizens, the Commandant, advised the public to desist from any act of violence in the State.

In their separate speeches, the traditional rulers of Ibagwa Nike, Enugu-East Local Government Area, Igwe Emmanuel Oluchukwu Ugwu, and that of Amorji Nike, Igwe Titus Okolo, said the visit was critical, stressing that the prevailing challenges confronting the country needed collaborative effort to checkmate it.

While calling for the recognition of the role of traditional rulers in the country’s Constitution, the royal fathers assured the Commandant of their willingness to ensure that peace prevailed in their respective domains.

The Commandant was accompanied to the visit by Senior officials of the Command.
