NSCDC ARRESTS MAN FOR ALLEGEDLY DEFILING HIS THREE DAUGHTERS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has arrested a man for allegedly defiling his three underaged daughters.

Parading the suspect, Mr. Thomas Igbo at the Command Headquarters in Awka, the state Commandant of the Corps, Mr. David Billie, said the arrest was facilitated by the Child Protection Network, a non Governmental Organization committed to Child Rights Protection.

The forty-eight year old suspect, Thomas Igbo, who hails from ikolo Village in Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, resides in Enugwu-Ukwu Community, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State with his wife and four children.

According to Mr. David Billie, the suspect sexually abused his female children of eight and four years as well as that of eighteen months.

Mr. Billie, who said that the suspect had confessed to the crime, stated that he would be arraigned in court as soon as the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria JUSUN called off its strike.

He bemoaned the alleged abuse and urged parents to be more responsible in taking care of their children.

Speaking on how the ordeal was discovered, a representative of Child Protection Network, Mrs. Oluchukwu Chukwuenyem, said they got to know about the despicable act through a neighbour of the suspect.

Mrs, Chukwuenyem, who is also the Executive Director of SAFNEST, said medical report from Ntasi Centre for Sexual Assault Cases General Hospital Enugwu Ukwu confirmed that the three children were sexually molested severally.

Speaking with journalists,
the suspect Thomas Igbo confessed to having sexually abused his eight year old daughter but denied molesting the remaining two blaming his action on alcohol influence.
