Ebonyi State Government says it is ready to commence the payment of the new minimum wage of Seventy Thousand Naira to its Workers.
Governor Francis Nwifuru announced this at the New Yam Festival of Izhi people at Amegu Cultural Centre, Abakaliki
He directed the state Head of Service to furnish him with the financial implications as he awaits the release of the chart for consequential adjustment for other categories of workers.
The Governor announced that the state government was ready to ensure total financial autonomy for Local Government administration but reminded the incoming Chairmen that they must share their allocations with Development Centre.
He decried the sabotage of his administration by contractors handling projects noting that over two hundred road projects given out to some contractors were yet to commence.
The event attracted people from all walks of life including the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Mary Maudline Nwifuru, Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Senator Ken Eze representing Ebonyi Central and the Speaker Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
