NEW MESSAGE: CLERGY CAUTION AGAINST VOTE BUYING….

The Archbishop of Enugu, Methodist Church Nigeria, the Most Reverend Christopher Edeh, wants the electorate to resist vote buying by politicians in the forth coming elections. The Most Reverend Ede, who noted that the country could be better with credible people in positions of authority, prayed for the conduct of peaceful, free and fair elections in 2019. He urged the people to face the New Year with fresh vigor and strength.

 

Similarly, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, the Most Reverend Callistus Onaga has called for the collaborative effort of all and sundry in building a virile nation. In a New Year message in Enugu, Bishop Onaga decried shedding of innocent blood in various parts of the country. He laid emphases on being patient, showing brotherly love and guarding against anything capable of causing chaos in the country. While urging politicians to shun bitterness, rancor and play by the rule in politics, Bishop Onaga advocated fervent prayers for success of 2019 elections. The Most Reverend Onaga also urged the electorate to resist vote buying by politicians and vote according to their conscience.

Meanwhile, the Year 2019 has been declared a year of pleasant surprises. A Methodist Cleric, the Very Reverend Fine Country Imebuogu, made the declaration at Saint John’s Methodist Church, Amechi Uwani, Enugu in a New Year message service. The Reverend explained that those surprises could only happen to those who would be in Christ Jesus. Delivering a sermon, entitled “It is Beginning,” a Priest in the church, the Reverend Kalu Okereke explained that it was necessary to involve God in the beginning of everything for safe landing. The priest advised Christians to walk by faith and by sight, especially as they select their leaders soon. Two of the worshipers, Mrs.Ngozi and Chief LazAni promised to uphold their faith in God. The service featured worship and praises.

Also, the Dean of Saint Andrews Cathedral, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Enugu Parish, the Very Reverend Bassey Ayek has declared 2019 as a great and decisive year. He made the declaration in a New Year message in Enugu. While admonishing Nigerians to focus on how to sustain peaceful co-existence, the Very Reverend Ayek also urged them to consider the antecedents of political candidates in making their choice of leaders in the 2019 general election.

As the global community celebrates the New Year, the Pastor in charge of New Haven branch of Christian Victory Prayer Ministry, Pastor Samuel Ugwuoke, has urged Christians to expect great visitation from God. Pastor Ugwuoke who took his message from Isaiah chapter 54: 1-5, advised Christians to walk with God in the New Year in order to enjoy all the blessings that God had promised them. The blessings include divine protection, uncommon prosperity and victory over enemies. Pastor Ugwuoke who led the congregation in thanksgiving and praise to God for His good works, said it was only through a heart of gratitude that one could receive more blessings from God.

In a related development, the General Overseer, the Old Path Revival Commission, Enugu, Head Quarters, Pastor Alfred Itiowe has reassured the people that the New Year will be better and beat the imaginations of the political leaders. Pastor Itiowe in a New Year message also advised Nigerians to take a positive mindset and put their trust in the creator for a better year. He warned leaders and everyone to desist from negative actions towards the coming elections as God would be in-charge.
