The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, (NASENI) is to collaborate with Ebonyi State government in the production and repair of equipment for its agricultural and power sectors development.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Agency, Professor Mohammed Sani, gave the indication during a courtesy visit to Governor David Umahi at Government House Abakaliki.

Professor Sani said if provided with an enabling environment, the Agency would produce machines to enhance rice processing and repair of tractors to ease pressure on farmers.

“We produce this machine for individual farmer for rice processing, distoners and other crop processing.

“We have seen several areas we can collaborate and fast tracking this again, we are in collaborating with original equipment manufacturers, who train our engineers in all aspect of overhauling.

“So this scheme was successful in Niger state and the President had directed that we do it nationwide and God willing, Ebonyi State will be one of the locations,” Professor Sani stated.

Governor David Umahi described technological development as the fastest way to strengthen the nation’s economy and assured the Agency of the provision of accommodation as a take off point.

“My pleading sir is that we are not going to be contented with just agriculture equipment, let us have a massive workshop, even if we need as a state to contribute, I can stop road work to do that so that you can see every section. If this country fails to work, we will continue to go backwards,” Governor Umahi remarked.

Governor Umahi added that the state government would set up a committee for the actualization of the project.
