Mrs Nkechi Okorocha accuses wealthy Nigerians of insensitivity

Mrs. NKECHI OKOROCHAThe wife of Imo State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Okorocha, has criticised what she described as the culture of primitive accumulation of wealth by some Nigerians and urged such individuals to extend their resources to the needy.
Mrs Okorocha said this when she inaugurated and handed over furnished two-bedroom bungalows built under her pet project to three indigent widows in Owerri on Thursday 7th July, 2016.
She noted that some families wallow in abject poverty due to situations beyond their control.
The agony of such families, she said could be alleviated with the support of corporate bodies, institutions, organisations and well-meaning Nigerians.
She said that although shelter is an essential ingredient of life, it was regrettable that some families did not have a roof over their heads.
“What is the purpose of life if we cannot be our brother’s keepers by using the little we have to touch their lives and put smiles on their faces?” she asked.
The governor’s wife advised widows yet to benefit from the gesture to be patient, assuring that equity, justice and fairness would continue to be applied in giving out the house.
