REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

A suspected child trafficker identified as Obinna Ibe from Achara Isuochi, in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State has been arrested by the police over his alleged involvement in the trafficking of three underaged girls to Ghana.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Police Command, Mrs. Maureen Chinaka, made the disclosure in a statement.

Mrs. Chilaka said the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters swung into action after a couple, Mr. Onyekwere Christian and Nneka Nwokoma both from Achara and Amuda Isuochi, reported that their daughters aged between 13 and 16 had been missing for a week.

The statement explained that after pursuing the available leads in the course of investigations, the suspect, Obinna Ibe, was apprehended.

However, based on his confessions, he had already trafficked the girls to Ghana.

The statement said investigations were still ongoing, after which the matter would be brought to court.
