MAN MURDERS WIFE & CHILD IN ANAMBRA COMMUNITY

A twenty-eight year old man is now in police custody for allegedly killing his wife and child in Ofufe Nza village, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Anambra State, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, the suspect, Chukwuemeka Obijiofor, who allegedly ran amok, attacked the victims with a shovel hitting them on their heads.

The statement explains that on January 26, 2021, the suspect whose mental state is yet to be ascertained, attacked his twenty-six year old wife, Chisom Chulwuemeka, and his four year old child, Amanda, with a shovel.

He equally used same object and wounded a vigilante who tried to rescue the victims.

The statement said that police detectives visited the scene and rushed the victims to a private hospital in Ozubulu where they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The wounded vigilante is said to be responding to treatment while the corpses of the victims were deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The statement added that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang had directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area to transfer the case to State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Awka, for discreet investigation to unravel what actually caused the incident.
