LOW TURN-OUT OF WORKERS WITNESSED AS WORK RESUMES AFTER CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY IN ENUGU STATE

Work has resumed after the two day public holiday declared by the Federal Government for the celebration of Christmas.

Our correspondent, who monitored the resumption, reports that there was low turnout of workers at some of the places visited.

At the State Secretariat, few workers were seen outside their office chatting, while some were at their duty posts.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, one of the workers, Mrs. Vivian Onah, who said she travelled from her village, narrated that she had every reason to resume work having been paid her 13th month salary by the State Government.

On the issue of the low turnout, Mrs. Onah explained the people were still in celebration mood.

Also, Mr. Paul Ejike, who could not hide his feelings, thanked God for the gift of health that made it possible for him to celebrate the Christmas.

Radio Nigeria also visited Enugu State Ministry of Education and Lands where many workers were seen at the duty posts.

Mr. Nnamani Ikechukwu said he had to come to work because of his dedication to duty.

Describing the turnout of workers, the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Mr. Augustine Udeh, said the large turnout was very impressive.

He advised the workers to be more committed to their duties.
