LAW OFFICERS SUSPEND BOYCOTT OF COURT SESSIONS IN EBONYI

Reporter : AMECHI ODO

Ebonyi State High and Magistrate Courts are to resume normal sessions following the suspension of court boycott embarked on by Law Officers in the state Ministry of Justice.

The Law Officers had last week deserted courts to press home their demand for better condition of service, including non implementation of harmonization of salary, non funding of government cases and exclusion of nine Law officers from January 2020 new minimum wage.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria in Abakaliki, the Chairman of the group, Mr. Ndubisi Ogbuinya, explained that they suspended the industrial action to allow the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to mediate in the matter.

One of the Law Officers, who participated in the boycott, Mrs. Nwanneka Chukwuba, expressed confidence that the intervention of the Nigeria Bar Association would achieve the desired result.

Mrs. Chukwuba appealed to Governor David Umahi to see reasons with their demands, noting that a better condition of service for the Law Officers would not only boost their morale but enhance quick dispensation of justice.
