INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CHARITY: MRS OTTI OFFSETS HOSP BILLS, EMPOWERS TRADERS

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

As the globe celebrates the 2024 International Day of Charity, the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has offset the hospital bills of six indigent patients worth over N3,000,000.00 at Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.

Mrs. Otti also assisted over 200 petty traders in some markets in the state with over N3.5 million to boost their businesses and promised them that the market would be rebuilt to enable them to trade in a conducive environment.

Speaking to journalists after handing over the proof of payment to the management of Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, Mrs. Otti said the gesture was in line with the agenda of present administration towards improving the welfare of the people.

Mrs. Otti noted that such visits would not be a one-off event as she would make it a regular gesture.

She encouraged other philanthropists to support the less privileged, especially in times of economic challenges.

She appreciated the dedication of the management and staff of FMC, Umuahia and urged them to continue their service of saving lives.

Also, the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Mrs. Blessing Felix, explained that the beneficiaries of the hospital bills had since been discharged but could not afford the bills until the intervention of the Governor’s wife.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the wife of the governor for her benevolence.
