INSTALLATION OF TRADITIONAL RULERS IN ENUGU STATE SUSPENDED

Enugu State Government has suspended all activities concerning installation of traditional rulers and creation of new autonomous communities in the State pending the outcome of the report from Chieftaincy and Community Matters Committee constituted by the State Government.
The Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. Charles Egumgbe announced this during a familiarization meeting with all the traditional rulers in the State at the State House of Assembly Complex.
Dr Egumgbe stated that the meeting was to get himself acquainted with the royal fathers, inform them about government policies and also take note of the challenges confronting them.
He informed them that the State Governor had directed that tranquility and status quo be maintained in the areas of installation of traditional rulers and creation of autonomous communities and urged those that had the quest to comply with the directive.
In a remark, the Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu described the meeting as apt and pledged their support to the policies of the State Government.
Other traditional rulers who spoke with newsmen, including the Traditional ruler of Oduma Achara, Igwe Murphy Chukwu, his counterpart from Ibagwa -Aka, Igwe Hyacinth Eze said the meeting provided an opportunity to interact with the Government on the best ways of ensuring security and development of the State.
The royal fathers were also advised to sensitize their people more on the on-going military exercise in the South east zone, called “ATILOGWU UDO” for the interest of the Sate.
