Reporter : LAWRENCE NWOKEDI

The Police Command in Abia State has confirmed the attack and burning of one of its stations at Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Areas by yet to be identified gun men.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons, including rocket launchers and dynamite, around 2am attacked the station and set it ablaze.

He noted that no life was lost and no weapon was carted away during the attack.

Mr. Ogbonna stated that investigation into the attack had commenced and urged residents of the state to report any suspicious persons or movements within their areas to the Police.

He said that no arrest has been made.

It could be recalled that the state government had last week alerted the public of a planned attack by hoodlums in some parts of the state.
