implementing UNICEF supported activities

The chief of United nations children’s fund, Enugu field office, Doctor Ibrahim conteh has encouraged governments to ensure that policies and programmes were genuinely targeted at improving the lives of the people, especially women and children.
Doctor Conteh gave the advice in Awka,Anambra state,during the end of year review meeting with ministries, departments and agencies as well as civil society organisations implementing UNICEF supported activities, organised by the international body and Anambra State ministry of economic planning, budget and development partners.
He explained that qualitative and free education for children, maternal and child health care as well as hygiene and sanitation remain key to physical and mental well being.
Speaking on the programme, the commissioner for economic planning,budget and development partners in Anambra State, Mr Mark Okoye restated the commitment of the state government to child well being, protection and development.
The summit was attended by participants from Abia,Anambra, Benue,Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Kogi states.
