IMO STATE: THREE NEW COVID-19 CASES RECORDED – Prof. Maurice Iwu

 Imo state has recorded three new cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of persons that have tested positive to the virus in the area to forty two.

Briefing Newsmen in Owerri the State Chairman Task force on Covid-19 Professor Maurice Iwu said the latest cases were three children belonging to a man that had earlier tested positive noting that one of the affected children is three years old.

According to him, the family has been isolated while efforts were being intensified to locate those they might have come in contact with. Professor Iwu announced plans to scale up testing to about 140 persons daily to help combat the disease.

He explained that the state had seven active cases at the moment but stated that only one manifested symptoms. He hinted that the committee will on Sunday monitor compliance with laid down protocols on checking the spread of corona virus disease in worship centres.

Our Correspondent quotes the chairman as saying that twenty five of the cases recorded in Imo state were not residents rather they were passengers intercepted by security personnel manning one of the state borders.
