The Imo State government is to undertake repair of failed portions of Owerri- Onitsha expressway to reduce challenges experienced by motorists. The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Chief Declan Emelumba made this known while briefing Newsmen at the end of this week’s state executive council meeting in Owerri.

He said Council gave the state ministry of works marching orders to immediate swing into action to ease movement on the road. He also explained that the government would henceforth prosecute anybody found engaging in illegal mining of sand in the state. Chief Emelumba noted that the activities of illegal miners posed a serious challenge to the environment.

The Commissioner used the forum to caution those who engage in looting of government property as anyone caught will face the wrath of the law.
