Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State wants judges in the state to be courageous and dispassionate in the discharge of duties.

He gave the charge at Government House Owerri during the inauguration of two high court judges.

The Governor noted that judiciary was crucial to the sustenance of democracy and as the last hope of the common man, judicial offices should maintain high level of integrity.

Chief Uzodimma said his administration would continue to uphold the doctrine of separation of power among the three tiers of government and gave an assurance that welfare of judges would continue to be accorded priority under his watch.

One of the new judges, Justice Alma Eluwa, who spoke on behalf of her colleague, Justice Okwuchi Okoroji, said they were aware of the onerous responsibility the office posed and promised to discharge their duties with diligence.

The event was attended by top government officials, including the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Paul Emeziem.
