IMO STATE GOVT DONATES 10 AMOURED PERSONNEL CARRIERS TO POLICE

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, has commended the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his sacrifice in equipping the Nigeria Police Force in to tackle criminality.

He made the commendation at the inauguration of ten Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other security gadgets in Owerri.

Inaugurating the security facilities at the Government House Owerri, Mr. Usman maintained that the state, which is the heart beat of South East, had remained strong in the fight against banditry and other crimes.

He announced that the Governor had not only given a practical meaning to the constitutional provision but distinguished himself among his political peers with exceptional courage towards supporting the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in attaining the critical security objectives.

The IGP also appealed the state government to help in maintaining the vehicles.

In a remark, Governor Uzodimma assured the people of the state that the government would do its best to ensure that Imo State remained safe for everyone, including investors.

According to the Governor, the state under his watch would continue to make the job of security agencies easier and appealed to the youths to shun violence in any form and embrace empowerment programme of the government.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, Mr. Mohammed Barde, explained that the assistance from the state government in the provision of operational vehicles had enhanced the performance of the command, which is a morale booster to officers.

A renowned traditional ruler in the state, Eze Oliver Ohanwe, expressed the hope that the gadgets would go a long way to gurantee peace and safety and appealed to security agencies to initiate more advanced system for protection of lives and property.

The event attracted top government funtioneries, including the the heads of other security agencies in the state.
