The police command in Imo State has re-assured residents of its swift response to cases of violent crime.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Orlando Ikeowkwu, gave the assurance in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Owerri on the dissolution of the Police  Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Mr. Ikeokwu said the Commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Isaac Akimmoyede, held a meeting with his management team to ensure the immediate implementation of the IGP’s directive.

“I want to tell Imolites that there is no cause for worry because SARS has been dissolved doesn’t mean we cannot combat armed robbery and other violent crimes,” Mr. Ikeokwu stated.

The PPRO disclosed that the command had put temporary mechanisms in place to do the work of SARS pending further directives from the IGP.

He maintained that the police command would continue to protect lives and property of the citizens.
