The impeached Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr. Collins Chiji, has described his impeachment and removal from office as an act of God, which he does not intend to challenge in court.

Mr. Chiji stated this immediately after the members of ninth assembly paid a courtesy visit to Governor Hope Uzodinma at the Government House Owerri.

Earlier, the new Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Mr. Paul Emeziem, from Onuimo state Constituency said the purpose of the visit was to align with the executive as well as pass a vote of confidence on the Governor.

The member from Orsu state constituency, Mr. Ekene Nnodumele, who moved the motion for the impeachment noted that it was a collective decision of the House due to financial recklessness, embezzlement of public funds and sabotage to the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

In a reaction, Governor Uzodinma enjoined the lawmakers to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and service to one another.

Governor Uzodinma called on them to remain as brothers and sisters and tolerate one another while exercising their legislative duty.
