Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State says he will not be distracted by the political backlash trailing his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing members of the party at Government House Abakaliki, Governor Umahi described antagonisms and allegations that he negotiated presidential ticket with President Muhammadu Buhari as unfair.
He stated that he consulted some National Assembly members and PDP stakeholders in the state over his decision and described their misgivings over his move as back stabbing.
“Many politicians have been defecting from one political party to the other, why is Ebonyi representative in the National Assembly castigating me,” Governor Umahi queried.
According to the Governor, he sacked some appointees, especially members of Ebonyi State University Governing Board because their Chairman wanted to resign on social media.
“All these people that came together to fight me, they collect contracts, they collect monthly pay, they collect vehicles. And when they are asked to bring people that worked for us, they will bring their wives, children and relations.
“Now, they are dressing words for us. We are in chapter one, in Chapter two, I will publish all that I have done for the leaders of this state,” Umahi vowed.
The Governor emphasised that he was not vindictive as being insinuated but would probe some of the stakeholders, who collected money to deliver road contracts in their localities but turned and embezzled the money.
