REPORTER: BEN ILECHUKWU

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has emphasized the need to harness human capital development to its fullest, describing it as a dependable resource of the South East region.

Professor Soludo made the recommendation at the International Convention Center, Awka during South East Human Capital Development Conference.

Professor Soludo advocated Public Private Community Partnership as a delivery mechanism.

He noted that about 99% resources of the region are in private hands.

The Governor also expressed regret that despite the depleted land mass of the region as a result of erosion, its productive assets are domiciled largely outside Igboland.

Governor Soludo further called for the strengthening, mobilization and harnessing of the region’s labour force to increase its productivity, even as he called for increased patronage of locally made products as a way of encouraging the indigenous companies.

The event, which featured policy recommendation session, lecture presentations in the health, labour and education sectors, was well attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, representatives of the Governors of the South East region, members of Anambra State Executive Council, among others.
