GUNMEN KILL THREE POLICEMEN AT EBONYI BOUNDARY

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Suspected hoodlums have killed three police personnel attached to Operation Safer Highway Team deployed to Ebonyi and Enugu Boundary Checkpoint.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, explained that the attackers drove to the checkpoint in two Sienna mini vans and opened fire on the police team.

The three were reported to have suffered serious bullet wounds and were later confirmed dead in the hospital while their remains were deposited in the mortuary.

This is not the first time police operatives are being attacked on Abakaliki-Enugu Highway as two police officers were allegedly killed in a similar drive-by shooting last year at the Ezilo checkpoint.
