GROUP MARCHES AGAINST DRUG ABUSE IN ABA

Over five hundred youths under the aegis of “Youths Against Substance Abuse” have staged a peaceful walk in Aba, Abia State against drugs and substance abuse by young persons in the society.

Addressing the youth, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu represented by Mrs. Stella Uka- Umunna urged them to stay away from the use of dangerous drugs and as it could destroy their future career.

She commended the organizers and called on parents to contribute their quota by trying to know the kind of companies their children keep.

The Coordinator of the exercise, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ekezie, noted that the programme was targeted to promote healthy lifestyle among youths.

The Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Abia State, Mr. Bamidele Akingbade, represented by an officer in the Agency, Mr. Kenneth Ofor called on youths to stay away from illicit drugs because of their negative effects to life.

He commended the Abia State Government and the group for their contributions towards the fight against drug abuse and use of illicit drugs.
